Ballet Dancers

Ballet

Ballet is the foundation behind most dance genres. It is an elegant yet very physically strenuous style of dance requiring strong technique, body placement, balance and flexibility. Ballet is the backbone to learning the fundamentals you need to succeed as a dancer. Usually performed to more classical music this style can be seen as graceful and poised. Peak Dance Company will be training in the Cecchetti Method.  Click here for more info.

Lyrical

Lyrical dance pulls heavily from the technique of Ballet and Jazz, as well as aspects of modern. Lyrical focuses on the emphasis of a song's "lyrics" while performing a theme and/or a story the dance is set to portray. Contemporary dance training requires strong technical skills while using an open and creative mind, as a lot of improvisation is used in this style. Dancers must be well-conditioned and trained in order to prevent injury, as a lot of contemporary movement is about speed, control, and strength.

Baby Steps

(Requires Parent/Guardian participation)

Baby Steps is a fun, interactive dance class for 1 & 2-year-olds. This upbeat and energetic class will introduce the basic foundations of dance and music. While dancing with your baby in your arms is a special, fun way to bond, it also helps your baby develop skills needed in life. As we go through each class, your baby will develop a good sense of rhythm, form, time and flow, hand-eye coordination, self-expression, as well as muscle tone. Exposing babies to music during early development helps them learn the sounds and meanings of words as well as fine motor skills. And if all that's not enough, participating in a group setting sets them up with good social skills, listening skills and self-confidence!
